Fly with the Geese! The V Formation

*information obtained from the book Uncommon Wisdom” by Tom Feltenstein

Do you know about the V Formation?

The V Formation is what you see when you see a pack of geese flying in the sky.

It has been learned that as each bird flaps it’s wings, it creates an uplift for the bird immediately following. By flying in a V formation, the whole flock adds at least seventy-one percent greater flying range than if each bird flew on its own.

Whenever a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of trying to go it alone, and quickly gets back into formation to take advantage of lifting power of the bird immediately.

Once the lead goose gets tired, he rotates backs and another goose flies point.

It would be wise if we learned from animals; they know the value of community and working together to accomplish a task.

It amazes me, how geese are so in tuned with one another. Despite the fights that you see on television, they know when it’s time to fly south, they are on one accord.

If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.
