Fats Role in the Body

They’re has been so many myths and misconceptions about the role of fat in your eating lifestyle.

In the l950s, there was a low-fat diet being promoted and which caused a large amount of people to think fat was bad. Individuals start to exclude a major macronutrient from their body and made sure their fat intake was low.

However, Fat is needed for surviving and thriving. They are apart of the “lipid” family, which is a major building block of cells.

In addition,

  • Fat serves as a backup energy source for the body (after glycogen is depleted)
  • Essential for the absorption of nutrients
  • Helps you maintain core body temperature
  • Protects your vital organs

Fat is so essential that the body naturally wants to store some fat for later use in case of famine.
