Stretching keeps the muscles flexible, strong, and healthy, and we need that flexibility to maintain a range of motion in the joints. Without it, the muscles shorten and become tight. Then, when you call on the muscles for activity, they are weak and unable to extend all the way. That puts you at risk for joint pain, strains, and muscle damage. I have always had mixed feeling about stretching. In H.S, I didn’t see the benefit of it. It wasn’t until I got into college, that realized the importance of stretching. I could barely touch my toes, but after consistently stretching I finally reached my GOAL.
Now, I stretch more often and I feel the difference of when I don’t stretch vs when I do stretch. Plus, being able to touch my toes is AMAZING. I feel that everyone should stretch more often, because it provides amazing benefits.
