Slow Negatives are for BEGINNERS

Negatives are important when it comes to exercising. You want to make sure you have the weight under control. Plus, they help with generating muscle growth.

Workouts done using pure negatives are more productive for gaining muscle mass when compared to pure concentric workouts. The reason for this difference in effectiveness is that everyday citizens rarely complete eccentric movements in their daily lives.

Studies have shown that once someone is accustom to this style of training, it is difficult to cause new trauma and spark anabolic response “AKA immunization”.

Therefore, slow negatives are key for beginners, but as you gain more experience, you will see that slow negatives lose their effectiveness. You need to find additonal ways to exploit the eccentric phase other than simply slowing down.
