High Fructose Corn Syrup

High Fructose Corn Syrup is a concentrated form of sugar derived from corn. As it is cheaper and easier to use than natural sugar, most soda manufacturers use it in place of regular sugar. Plus, it has a long shelf life.

Cons of HFCS

  • High-fructose corn syrup is easily converted to fat when consumed in excess
  • Increases your risk of obesity and weight gain
  • Excessive intake is a key cause of diabetes
  • Contains no essential nutrients
